Frozen Pii’s mission is to help people protect themselves from identity fraud and reclaim their stolen identity from foreign and domestic criminals.
On this website, you will find information about state and federal consumer protection laws that can help you protect your identity, without wasting thousands of dollars over your lifetime for subscription-fee credit monitoring/alert services.
You will also find web links to help you exercise your legal rights, including:
1) ordering a security credit freeze from the Big-3 credit reporting agencies (CRAs) (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion) to prevent the release of your credit history to unauthorized new lenders,
2) opting out of unsolicited credit and insurance applications and offers sent by mail, and
3) ordering your free annual credit report from the CRAs to check for and correct errors (including unauthorized credit cards, loans and debt caused by criminals) that lower your credit score and increase your interest rates and insurance premiums.
On our Homepage, you can read what experts say about the effectiveness of free and low-cost security credit freezes. Then, go to the “Freeze Your Credit Reports” section for direct links to the hard-to-find security credit freeze pages of Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
All state laws require that CRAs give you control over the release (“thaw”) of your credit report history to new lenders that you select. When applying for new credit, you simply use a PIN provided to you by the CRAs to authorize (“thaw”) the release of your credit history report to specific new lender(s) that you are dealing with, and not unknown lenders dealing with criminals posing as you with your stolen identity. Online release of your credit reports using a PIN typically take only 15 minutes.
Make your stolen Pii unusable to criminals trying to get new loans and credit cards with your identity.
Freeze your Pii today with Experian, Equifax and TransUnion.
